SPYAIR - Sakura Mitsutsuki

                                                                                            Gintama OP 13

Tracklist:

1. Sakura Mitsutsuki
2. Turning Point
3. Sakura Mitsutsuki (Instrumental)
4. Turning Point (Instrumental)

1. Sakura Mitsutsuki

We're off with a plain and somewhat underwhelming start, but as the song gains momentum, it actually becomes a very good rock track. This type of song is very usual for shounen anime like Gintama, so the originality part can be overlooked because of a more secure approach. Still, this song is satisfying and easy for listening. All it takes, like most Japanese songs, is time to warm up to it.
Rating: 8

2. Turning Point

Unlike "Sakura Mitsutsuki", this song in fact scores points on uniqueness, being a mix of synths, guitars and hip hop, which makes it an interesting experience. Ike, SPYAIR's vocalist sounds remarkable when rapping, so I hope I get to hear more songs of them in which he does that.
Rating: 9

The A-side of this single is enough for simply promoting it, but the real treasure is what lies under. My overall rating for this release is: 8.5

The comment box doesn't bite ; be polite when feeding it, though.
